Since 1978, the Foundation has awarded thousands of need-based grants to Catholic high schools. The schools, in turn, distribute the grant money to students of Irish descent. The fund is sustained using proceeds from annual events hosted by the Foundation, including the annual St. Patick’s Day Dinner, the Irish Fellowship Club’s “Irish Open” Golf Outing and the annual Christmas Luncheon.
Facts about scholarship distribution:
- Need-based grants of $2,000 are awarded to Chicago-area Catholic high schools.
- In 2004, the Foundation awarded scholarships totaling $73,000.
- Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed more than $1,000,000.
