Saturday, March 15
Chicago will commence the 2008 St. Patrick's Day celebration on Friday, March 14th with the Irish Fellowship Club's 107th Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner. The festivities will be held at the Chicago Hilton and Towers Hotel, beginning with a reception at 6:00 PM followed by dinner at 7:30 PM.
Tim Foley, Business Manager and Financial Secretary of Local 134 will serve as the Dinner Chairman and has planned an evening of Irish music, excellent food and good fellowship. Entertainment will include the Mullane Irish Dance Academy and the Shannon Rovers, as well as dancing after the dinner with The City Lights Orchestra.
For tickets, please call 312-427-2926. Proceeds from the dinner will be used by the Irish Fellowship Foundation to fund the Irish Fellowship Education Grants program.
Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade starts at 12:00 noon at Balbo and Columbus Drive and proceeds north on Columbus drive to Monroe Street. The usual delegation of politicians and dignitaries will lead the walk down O'Columbus Drive.
The IFC float and marching group will follow immediately behind them. Members and their families are all invited to march with the club. Marchers are asked to assemble by 11:45 AM at the IFC float, which features a statue of St. Patrick. The float will be located near the corner of Balbo and Columbus Drive. IFC parade sashes will be provided to the first few hundred marchers to assemble.
IFC President Thomas Allen and Chairman Kathy Taylor, along with the officers and directors of the Club, extend their best wishes for a VERY HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
